“A healthy man wants a thousand things. A sick man wants only one.”
I heard this a couple years ago and I think about it all the time.
It’s particularly been on my mind for the past few days, as I (and the rest of my family) had a nasty cold over Christmas. And while there are a lot of things worse than a rough cough and a headache, I still found the quote to be true: I couldn’t focus on anything else, except wanting to be healthy and wanting my loved ones to feel better.
So this sits at the intersection of two important themes for me: prioritization and gratitude.
Of all the many things you’re pursuing and wanting, how many of them really matter?
And isn’t it a blessing to have the time and energy to seek out various mountains to climb, when so many people are just trying to get out of their valleys?
