This week, I had one of those light bulb moments.
A friend shared an article he’s writing and mentioned, almost as an aside:
Prioritization is more important than productivity.
This shocked me: I love productivity and enjoy optimizing every aspect of my life. But as I thought about it more, the truth of the statement became undeniable. Because efficiency doesn’t matter until you’ve decided what is important (and what is not).
In fact: Speed in the wrong direction is worse than standing still.

This is awesome. I’m definitely using this. So simple, but profound. I think production and busyness can function like a coping mechanism amidst fear, aimlessness and loneliness. They can be addictive, and actually keep you from seeing or being able to follow what’s actually important and meaningful.
YES. And once we make that decision, the productivity we produce is even more powerful and more impactful.
