“When you start getting tired of saying it, that’s when other people are just starting to hear it.”
I read this in a newsletter recently, and it’s finally starting to click.
It reminds me of Donald Miller saying, “Marketing is an exercise in memorization.”
It reminds me of David Perell saying, “Great CEOs are sloganeers.”
It reminds me of Kevin Kelly saying, “Everything has already been said, but nobody was listening. So, we have to say it again.”
The more I hear it, the more it sinks in.
I think about this as a marketer, but all of us should ask ourselves: What do I want people to remember enough that I’m willing to keep repeating it over and over and over?
Insight inspired by: from one of my favorite newsletters, contentfolks. (She cites this 2 minute video, if you want to watch someone say it a couple more times.) Thanks to Donald, David, and Kevin, too!
This "resonates" with me - 1- as a singer! How much easier it is to learn words put to music. Some things we WANT to remember: (hymns & Bible verses for me). 2- As a consumer: Some things we wish we could forget... "Wait! DO NOT start singing that commercial or it will be stuck in my head all day!" 3-as a Mom (perhaps Moms understand this concept more intuitively than others as they raise their children - haha) 4- as I get older ... "Please remind me AGAIN.. HOW do I make my phone / computer do that? "
