I like this distinction because some people tend to love planning and preparing, while others prefer to rely on gut instinct. In reality, we need some of both.
David originally drew the reference from golf, but you can see the relevance in other sports, as well as art: jazz musicians who practice their scales for years, before improvising on stage.
This seems like another form of simplicity on the other side of complexity: The novice and the expert both act without thinking, but with entirely different results.
Where are you on this balance? Should you be preparing a bit more, or do you just need to let go and let it rip?
