1, #17 - What's worth reading?
On content filters — Estimated Read Time: 40 seconds.
One benefit of writing this newsletter is that it makes me more intentional about my information diet. One filter that has developed naturally for me is, “Will this piece of content have an insight worth sharing?” But in searching for other frameworks, I found a helpful list by top writing coach (and recent 1 subscriber!) Ellen Fishbein. She includes the Taste Test (because intentional design reflects intentional thinking), the Test of Time (because past longevity predicts future longevity), and the Blind-Spot Test (because depth & breadth are both necessary). But my favorite from her list is the Trusted Source Test: Is this content highly regarded by someone I regard highly? In fact, the idea of prioritizing by proxy is a core motivation behind this newsletter: In a world of information saturation, conscientious curation is one of the best gifts we can give each other. So I’d love to hear from you: How do you decide what’s worth reading? And what have you read recently that was worthwhile?
